The latest LIHEAP season began October 1, 2024. Applications are currently open for
older adults (60 years +)
individuals with a disability
families with children under the age of six years and
households that are disconnected from their utilities, have a disconnection notice or have less than 25% in their propane tank.
All other income eligible households can start applying November 1, 2024.
Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis through August 15, 2025, or until funding is exhausted.
Eligibility for this program is based on income and family size.
Income Eligibility:
If your household's combined income for the 30 days prior to application (gross income, before taxes are deducted) is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level*, as shown in the chart below, you may be eligible to receive assistance. If you rent, and your heat is included in the rent, you may be eligible for a LIHEAP benefit.

A Regular Meeting of the Township Trustees of the Town of Alton, Illinois was held on the above date in the City Council Chambers, City Hall Building, at the hour of 6:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bohart and on Call of Roll, the following members were present or absent.
PRESENT: Allen, MacAfee, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, Gan – 7
ABSENT: None – 0
Mrs. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Gan, that the said minutes of the regular meeting of September 11, 2024 be approved. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Allen, MacAfee, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, Gan – 7
NAYS: None –
Chairman Bohart presented the Report and Listing of Bills for Payment and Action by Board; General Assistance Fund in the amount of $6,447.04; Town Fund in the amount of $17,387.75; Social Security fund in the amount of $1,057.75; Illinois Municipal Retirement in the amount of $1,196.57. Mrs. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Gan, that the said Bill Listing be approved. The motion passed by the following vote:

Chairman Bohart presented the following resolution.
Resolution to Include Compensation Paid Under an IRC Section 125 Plan as IMRF Earnings
WHEREAS, standard member earnings reportable to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund do not include compensation paid under an Internal Revenue Code section 125 plan or compensation directed into a premium conversion plan or flexible spending account; and
WHEREAS, an IMRF participating unit of government may elect to include in IMRF earnings compensation paid under an IRC section 125 plan or compensation directed into a premium conversion plan or flexible spending account by action of the governing body; and
WHEREAS, the Board of the Alton Township is authorized to include section 125 plan and premium conversion and flexible spending account compensation as earnings reportable to IMRF and it is desirable that it do so.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of the Alton Township does
hereby elect to include as earnings reportable to IMRF compensation paid under an IRC section 125 plan and/or compensation directed into a premium conversion plan or flexible spending account effective 10/10/2015.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk or Secretary of the Board is authorized and directed to file a duly certified copy of this resolution with the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
Mr. Strebel made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Brown that the said resolution be
approved. The motion passed by the following vote:
