TOWN OF ALTON
ALTON, ILLINOIS
MAY 14, 2025
A Regular Meeting of the Township Trustees of the Town of Alton, Illinois was held on the above date in the City Council Chambers, City Hall Building, at the hour of 6:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bohart and on Call of Roll, the following members were present or absent.
PRESENT: Allen, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, – 5
ABSENT: MacAfee – 1
VACANT: 7TH WARD—1
Also, in attendance were Matt Kelly, Alton Township Attorney and Sheryl Beilsmith, Alton Township Assessor.
At this time, Township Clerk Cheryl Ingle swore in Sheryl Beilsmith, Alton Township Assessor and Mary Bohart, Alton Township Supervisor.
Mr. Meehan, made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Brown, that the minutes of the Regular
Meeting of April 23, 2025. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Allen, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, – 5
NAYS: None – 0
ABSENT: MacAfee – 1
VACANT: 7TH WARD –1
Chairman Bohart presented the Monthly Report for April 2025, (All Funds): Town Fund in the amount of $685,848.48; General Assistance Fund in the amount of $150,411.48; Social Security Fund in the amount of $62,950.67; Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund in the amount of $85,683.15; Town Savings Fund in the amount of $203,499.11. Mrs. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Meehan, that the Monthly Report be approved and placed on file. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Allen, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, – 5
NAYS: None – 0
ABSENT: MacAfee – 1
VACANT: 7TH WARD –1
Chairman Bohart presented the Report and Listing of Bills for Payment and Action by Board: General Assistance Fund in the amount of $16,650.77; Town Fund in the amount of $43,419.33; Social Security Fund in the amount of $2,188.60. Mrs. Brown made a motion, seconded by Mr. Meehan, that said Bill Listing be approved. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Allen, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, – 5
NAYS: None – 0
ABSENT: MacAfee – 1
VACANT: 7TH WARD –1
There being no further business to come before the Board of Trustees at this time, Mrs.Elliott made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Allen, that said meeting adjourn. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Allen, Strebel, Brown, Meehan, Elliott, – 5
NAYS: None – 0
